Samuel Pike Dart was found dead in the River Teign.
He had lived at Incott Farm, Sampford Courtenay but had been staying at his step-brother-in-law's for the Newton Abbot races. In the evening he said he was going into Newton for an hour but never came back.
He was later found at the bottom of the River Teign by an employee of the Teignmouth Harbour Commissioners
