Dipo Seweje

Age: 20

Sex: male

Date: 27 Dec 2007

Place: Chartridge House, Aylesbury Estate

Dipo Seweje was shot in a communal garden near Chartridge House on the Aylesbury Estate in Walworth.

He had been shot at around 4pm on 26 December 2007 but his body was not discovered until the following day, 27 December 2007.

He had been chased out of Chartridge House with a friend by a man in a hooded top but they had separated before Dipo Seweje was shot. His friend had not got home until the early hours of the following day and told police that he had not seen Dipo Seweje since they had separated.

He had been shot with the same gun, Baikal 9mm pistol, that had been used to shoot James Oyebola who was killed in July 2007.

His body was found whilst police were investigating reports of a shooting.

A man was arrested in relation to his murder but no conviction was made.

Dipo Seweje was from Nigeria and had lived on Orb Street in Walworth.

Demolition of Chartridge House and the area between Bradenham Close and Portland Street, which included Bradenham, Arklow, Chartridge and Chiltern blocks, started in 2015 and the area has since been redeveloped. The rest of the Aylesbury Estate is under ongoing phased redevelopment.
