James Booth was found drowned in the River Derwent.
He had been missing for a week after having been drinking at the White Bear pub on 12 March 1911 with a friend.
The friend said that when they left James Booth he was perfectly sober. He said he left him at the corner of Exeter Street and he was not seen alive again.
He was not thought to have had any problems other than the illness of his wife.
