The body of a newly born child was found at Cheetham Hill on Sunday 19 March 1916.
The body had been wrapped up in brown paper and two pieces of cord had been tied tightly around its neck.
It was found in a yard behind the Assembly Hall on the Cheetham Hill Road by three boys who took it to the Derby Street police station.
The post-mortem stated that death was due to strangulation.
