Place: Trinity Place, Salford

The body of a newly-born child was found in a water closet at a house in Trinity Place in Salford.

It was found by a woman who informed the police.

It had been wrapped up in brown paper which also contained several articles of underclothing and two pocket handkerchiefs marked, 'R' in red cotton and, 'H' in black ink.

The doctor that carried out the post mortem stated that the child had evidently been fed and he thought had lived for about a day. He said that he thought that death was probably caused by drowning.

The Coroner's jury returned a verdict of wilful murder against some person or persons unknown.
