The body of a new-born child was found in a field near the National Schools on Thursday 5 February 1903 at about 4.30pm by a man returning home from the school.
He reported the matter to the police who arrived to find the body of a newly-born male child wrapped up in brown paper and tied with a piece of cord with the head and feet exposed.
It was said that the child appeared to be fully developed and that there were some marks about its head.
The inquest, which was held on Saturday 7 February 1903 at Camborne Police Station returned a verdict of murder against some person or persons unknown.
