Date: 5 Aug 1918

Place: River Tyne

The body of a newly-born female child was found floating in the River Tyne.

It was in an advanced state of decomposition but it was determined that the child had lived a short while before it died. The doctor who examined the child said he thought that it had been dead for at least a fortnight and that death was due to inattention at birth.
