Age: 0
Sex: male
Date: 21 May 1919
Place: River Thames, Mortlake
The body of a newly-born child was found on the foreshore of the River Thames at Mortlake.
It was wrapped up in cotton wool and brown paper.
The medical evidence showed that the child had lived for 3 or 4 days and that the cause of death was drowning.
The coroner said that a child of that age could not have fallen into the river itself and a verdict of murder by person or person's unknown was returned.
