Date: 1 Jun 1920
Place: Thornfalcon, Taunton
The body of a newly-born child was found in a brown paper parcel by some school children at Thornfalcon near Taunton.
They found the brown paper parcel in a deep ditch in a field off a quiet spot along a road leading to the village church. They saw the parcel in the ditch covered with water and on trying to get it out the paper broke disclosing the infant's nude body.
The face appeared to be bruised and the body had probably been in the water for some time.
