Age: 0

Sex: male

Date: 4 Nov 1921

Place: Tiverton Cemetery, Tiverton

The body of a newly-born female child was found in Tiverton Cemetery.

It was found by the caretaker who said that it was only by accident that he did find it and if he hadn't it might have remained unnoticed for a week.

He said that all the cemetery gates were locked at night and that he had not seen anyone enter.

The police said that the child was wrapped in an apron which bore the name D Court in red cotton. It was wrapped up on the outside with a copy of the West Somerset Free Press.

The doctor said that one of the apron strings had been wound around it's neck and that judging by the constricted ring markings he thought that it had been pulled tightly.

The post-mortem gave the cause of death as strangulation.
