Date: 26 Aug 1971
John Augustus Roden Orde was shot at his farm.
He was doing his usual late night rounds when on a track near Coursers Road he came across a gang of people trying to remove the rear number plate of a bronze-coloured Ford Cortina. However, he was then shot.
A 32 year old man was tried for his murder but found not guilty.
The man had been arrested 2 months after the murder when police raided his home and found 2 revolvers and 365 rounds of ammunition hidden in a barrel of grease. His sister was said to have told police that he had confessed to the murder to her.
