James Voyce and his adopted son Henry King were found dead at their farm in Eldersfield. They had died from cyanide poisoning.
4 grains of cyanide of potassium were found in James Voyce whilst 1.3 grains were found in Henry King. It was thought that the poison was probably taken in water.
A manufacturer that had visited the farm said that James Voyce's blind brother had made an accusation against James Voyce's wife but she strenuously denied it.
