Woman

The nude body of a woman was found washed up on the coast near Ravenglass.

All she had been wearing were two pairs of black woollen stockings and a pair of old leather slippers.

Her head was a complete skeleton, with all the flesh and hair gone, but her body was well nourished. She appeared to have been pregnant. There were no signs of violence.

It was thought that her body had been in the water for several months.

It was thought that she had been about 35-years-old.
