The body of John Fraser was found in the River Thames.
He had been a marine engineer on the SS Kalimba.
On 28 March 1922 John Fraser had gone with another engineer into Hornsey Rise to visit someone and on the way back the other engineer had left him to buy a newspaper. The engineer said that he then saw John Fraser talking to a stranger and walked on saying that he thought that John Fraser would follow on but he was not seen alive again.
John Fraser's brother said at the inquest said that it seemed strange that the other engineer had just left John Fraser saying that it was not a chum's action. He said, 'the story seemed rather strange'.
An open verdict was returned.
The coroner said that it was very probable that the two men had been drinking together but said that there was absolutely no evidence to show how John Fraser came to be drowned.
