The body of a newly-born child was found wrapped up in a parcel below the seat in a carriage of a train in West Hartlepool.
The cause of death was given as want of proper attention at birth and there was also mention by the doctor of suffocation.
The Coroner noted that it was easy for anybody to board a train with a parcel under their arm at a busy station like Leeds, Harrogate or possibly Stockton but at a small station a person might be noticed.
