Age: 42

Sex: male

Date: 7 May 2011

Place: Rounton Road, Bromley-by-Bow

Wayne Stockdale was shot in the head while riding his bike through an underpass at a block of flats.

He was shot at 10.20pm on Friday 6 May 2011 in an underpass near a block of flats on Rounton Road near the junction with Knapp Road as he rode along on his bicycle, just over from Devons Road. Two men had got out of a vehicle and shot him. The men then went off towards a parade of shops in Devons Road where they fired some more shots at a group of people that were standing outside. They then ran back to the junction at Knapp Road and got back in the car and drove off.

Wayne Stockdale was taken to the Royal London Hospital but died four days later on Tuesday 10 May 2011 at 12:50pm.

The post-mortem gave the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head.

The gunmen were described as black or Asian in appearance and to have been wearing face coverings.

It was thought that he might have been shot in a case of mistaken identity. Shots were fire both at him and into the street.

He had been on his way to meet a friend that lived just 30 seconds away.

Five people were arrested for his murder but none were charged. One man that was arrested in February 2012 was re-arrested in February 2015.

Wayne Stockdale had been from Poplar and had been a printer.
