The body of a man was found in the River Thames at Poplar near Limehouse Pier.
He had been stabbed under the left ear and then thrown into the River Thames.
The stab had been inflicted with such force that his neck had been fractured.
He also had a punctured wound in the leg.
He was also naked.
Limehouse Pier had been used to ferry across the Thames to Cuckold's Point by Columbia Wharf, but no longer exists. It started just where Three Colt Street ends today.
