Peter Toole

Age: unknown

Sex: male

Date: 7 Apr 1916

Place: River Tyne, Newcastle-upon-Tyne

Peter Toole was found dead in the River Tyne.

He was an electrician but for some years had suffered from deafness which had depressed him and he had had no work since the New Year and was living on his savings.

On 7 April 1916 he had been out for most of the day and when he came home in the evening he took his daughter to the station and when he returned he went out for another walk but was not seen again until he was pulled out of the River Tyne on 14 April 1916.

His post-mortem showed that he had severe injuries to his chest and left thigh, his left thigh itself being fractured. The injuries had been sustained before he died but it was impossible to say whether had died from the injuries or from drowning.
