Gertrude Emily Smith was found lying in a passage near her home in Hull on Boxing day 1924.
She was found by a policeman in the early hours of 26 December 1924, lying across the passage in Hill Street, apparently unconscious. She was quickly taken to the Royal Infirmary by ambulance but when she got there a doctor pronounced her as dead.
There were slight marks of violence on her head and face although there was no evidence to show how she had received her injuries and an open verdict was returned.
Furniture Place was also described as Furniture Buildings, but it is not clear whether that was in Hill Street off Maxwell Street, which was industrial, or another Hill Street in Hull.
