Man

Age: 40

Sex: male

Date: 1 Sep 2002

Place: Lings Wood, Northampton

The body of a man was found in Lings Wood.

His body was found in a den area under some rhododendron bushes.

It was thought that his body had been there for about twelve months before being discovered.

The cause of his death could not be established.

He was described as being aged between 25 and 50, and between 5ft 8in to 6ft tall, with dark hair.

Examination of his teeth indicated that he was at least 30 years old and an isotopic bone examination indicated that he had lived for some time in an area with a prominent chalk/limestone geology.

Items found with him when he was found included:

  • Beige sleeping bag.
  • Black Equinox fleece jacket.
  • Blue Viale work wear top.
  • Green and brown Jet Flow Torille 40 Outbound rucksack.
  • Cigarette lighters.
  • Purple comb and hairbrush.
  • Spectacle case and lens cloth.
  • Damaged black and white photograph.

He had been wearing some blue and grey New Balance trainers, a pair of white socks, a pair of navy Petroleum track-suit bottoms, boxer shorts and two polo-style tops, one with long sleeves and the other with short sleeves.

In 2014 a clay bust was made of his head and an appeal was made to identify him.
