Stephon Davidson

Age: 19

Sex: male

Date: 2 Sep 2008

Place: Monument Road, Ladywood, Birmingham

Stephon Davidson was shot in a drive-by shooting in Monument Road, Ladywood.

He was in the back seat of a car that was being chased through Ladywood in Birmingham on 5 August 2008 when he was shot in the neck.

The murder took place a short while before 5.50pm when the police were called out.

He was taken to hospital but died two months later on 2 September 2008 at 9am from organ failure.

He had been in a Citroen Saxo car at the time and was shot at by at least two people from a silver Toyota Avensi car. The Toyota was never recovered. The registration of the Toyota car had been FE03 JXW. There had been four people in the Citroen Saxo car at the time. Images of the Toyota Avensi were later released in 2016 along with a police appeal following what they described as new significant information being brought to them, but no further developments were made.

As the Toyota car was chasing the Citroen Saxo car a man was seen on CCTV to lean out in preparation to shoot at the Citroen Saxo car and other witnesses said that they saw two guns being used in the car.

The Toyota Avensi was never found but it was reported to have later been seen in Derbyshire but the police didn't say where.

The police said that they thought the murder was gang-related although they couldn't say whether Stephon Davidson was himself in a gang. However, they did say that some of his friends were.

The police noted that there was no aggression shown by anyone in the Citroen Saxo car, including from Stephon Davidson. They also said that the car was deliberately targeted but that they didn't know why.
