Baby

Age: unknown

Sex: male

Date: 7 Feb 1907

Place: Deal, Kent

The body of a newly-born child was found in the box of a domestic servant at her lodgings in Deal.

A doctor said that he estimated that the child had been in the box for about seven months but possibly much longer.

The domestic servant denied that the child was hers and that she had no knowledge of the baby being in the box.

The doctor said that he could not state whether the child had had a separate existence nor determine its cause of death.

The was also no evidence that it had been the domestic servant’s child and an open verdict was returned.
