Baby

Age: 0

Sex: male

Date: 21 Feb 1907

Place: Bosvigo Woods, Truro

The body of a newly-born child was found in Bosvigo Woods wrapped up in a chemise and an apron.

The body was found by a man in a pit in a ditch just over a hedge and appeared to have been placed there rather than thrown.

A policeman found a skirt three or four yards from the body wrapped up in a newspaper which was dated 9 January 1907.

It was not thought that it had been where it was found for more than one or two days.

The doctor who carried out the post-mortem said that the child had died from exposure and that if it had been born where it was found then that would have explained the whole matter. He said that there were no marks of injury or violence and that the child had breathed.

An open verdict was returned.
