Beyake Keita Ann

Age: 21

Sex: male

Date: 14 Sep 2016

Place: Attock Park, Laisterdyke, Bradford, West Yorkshire

Beyake Keita Ann was attacked in Attock Park in Bradford on the night of 23 August 2016, at about 8pm, while he played football with his friends and died later in hospital.

He was attacked by a group of men armed with baseball bats and other weapons. Another 17-year-old youth also received minor injuries that required hospital treatment.

It was said that he was attacked after a football hit a car belonging to two men who were described as being Asian. It was said then that the Asian men then called and arranged for the gang to come to the park.

Beyake Ann was hit in the head with a baseball bat and was later taken to the Leeds General Infirmary where he died three weeks later on 14 September 2016.

They had been playing football in the park from about 6pm and the park was said to have been quite busy at the time and the police appealed for anyone that had been there to come forward.

The police said that during their investigation they questioned 15 men, with six being held on bail, but no charges were made.

The police later carried out a reconstruction of the events.

On 15 December 2021 a 27-year-old man was convicted of violent disorder and given a suspended sentence for his part in the fight. He had admitted to driving to the park after receiving a phone call but said that he didn't have a weapon and wasn't involved in the violence. He also admitted to driving a man away from the park. He was arrested after a police operation was carried out in which he was befriended and plied with drinks until he divulged his part in the fight.

Beyake Ann had lived in Leeds but often played football in Bradford with his friends.

He was from Spain but had come to the United Kingdom in May 2015 to find work.
