Baby

Age: 0

Sex: male

Date: 18 Feb 1907

Place: 15 Priory Street, Cheltenham

The body of a newly-born child was found wrapped up in newspaper on the lawn of the house at 15 Priory Street in Cheltenham.

When the parcel was opened it was found to contain the body of a premature baby. It was found by a house decorator who had picked the parcel up and torn a corner off to look inside.

The name Mr Bucknall was written on the brown paper inside.

The doctor found that the child’s lungs were fully inflated although added that that was not a complete test of a separate existence. He said that it had not lived more than a few minutes and had probably died from inattention at birth but that even if it had had attention it would probably only have survived for a few hours.
