Age: 0

Sex: male

Date: 25 Sep 1907

Place: River Tone, French Weir

The body of a newly-born child was found in the River tone at French Weir between the Tone Lane Bridge and the Weir Bridge.

It was wrapped up in what appeared to be a portion of a black apron.

It was thought to have been in the water for about two weeks.

The post-mortem stated that the child still had its umbilical cord attached which had not been cut or tied and that all its organs were healthy and that its lungs floated in water indicating a separate existence. It stated that death was due to suffocation and that it had probably died 10-18 days before.
