Age: 0
Sex: female
Date: 30 Apr 1907
Place: 28 Warrior Square, St. Leonards
The body of a newly-born child was found in a dusthole by a dustman.
The dustman said that he saw some people go into 28 Warrior Square which was empty and thought that they were new tenants and so went to look into the dusthole to see that it was clear. When he did so he found that there was a small amount of dust swept up into a corner near a paper parcel.
He opened the parcel and found the dead body of the female child wrapped up in some calico, a piece of canvas and then some brown paper.
The dustman said that he last emptied the dusthole sometime before Christmas and said that the parcel was not there then.
The body was much decomposed although the lungs floated in water indicating that it had had a separate existence.
