Surjit Takhar

Surjit Takhar was reported missing on 8 October 2008 from his home in Oldbury, West Midlands.

His remains were later found on 20 August 2016 near Junction 4 of the M54 at the bottom of an embankment in Telford, Shropshire by maintenance workers. The remains included his skull and other bone fragments.

Surjit Takhar had been married for 14 years but had separated from his wife two years before he vanished.

His wife, who said that she last saw him five days before he was reported missing when he visited her said that when she later asked where he was she was told that he had moved to a different country, however, she said that she was still suspicious.

He was later reported missing by his family.

He was identified by DNA and dental records.

His cause of death was unknown. However, he had had head and rib injuries.

He was from Oldbury. He regularly went to the main temple on Soho Road in Handsworth, Birmingham and was a regular drinker in the nearby pubs. He was also an alcoholic and had run up some debts.

It was thought that he had known his killer.

The police said that they were interested in speaking to a person that called them in January 2016 saying they had information about Surjit Takhar but who was cut off before their name could be taken.

In 2017 three people were arrested on suspicion of his murder.

Surjit Takhar had worked as a delivery driver at the time he went missing and had previously worked as a laminator for Gurso Lining in Great Wyrley.
