George Waterman was found lying in the road by his smashed tricycle.
He was found lying unconscious under his badly damaged tricycle on the Hordean side of Buster Hill.
He was found by some men that had been driving a lorry. He was suffering from severe injuries and was taken to Petersfield Cottage Hospital by a Naval Commander who drove past the scene. He later died there at 5pm.
When the police arrived, they found that the men in the lorry had left and were unable to determine the cause of the accident.
He was a married man and had lived at Shuttlecock Cottages in Hyden Wood, Clanfield.
