David Scott was stabbed in an underpass in Monument Way, Tottenham.
In 2011 a man was arrested and tried for his murder, but the case was dropped after new scientific evidence was found.
He was attacked at about 3.15am on the Tuesday in the underpass beneath the A10 Monument Way and then staggered up the steps to the main roadway before collapsing due to blood loss. He was then taken to North Middlesex Hospital where he died an hour later.
His jewellery and mobile phone were also stolen. He had been wearing a heavy gold bracelet.
The person that stabbed him was said to have been black and in his early 20's and was thought to have made his getaway through the High Cross housing estate. He was seen crouching over David Scott's body before jumping over a wall and running off.
There were also other people that were seen at the scene who had called for assistance, but they then also ran away.
A white hatchback car was also seen nearby, and the police said that they were interested in tracing it.
The underpass linked Fairbanks Road and High Cross.
He was unemployed and had Crohn's disease. He also had two children and lived with his girlfriend. His nickname was Boyo and he had grown up in the Northumberland Park area of Tottenham.
