The body of a newly-born child was found on the bank of Swilgate Brook by a boy playing with his friends.
It was found at a spot known as Bow and Arrow in Tewkesbury. It was wrapped up in a parcel and in the water. They brought the parcel to the side and found it contained the body of a child and so went to tell their father who then called the police.
It had been in the water for two days and was wrapped up in a copy of the News Of The World.
The post-mortem showed that the child had had a separate existence and had not received proper attention at birth.
