Age: 1 to 7 days
Sex: male
Date: 25 Mar 1927
Place: River Nene
The body of a newly-born male child was found in the River Nene on Friday 25 March 1927.
The child’s death was said to have been due to inattention at birth and not drowning.
The age of the infant was given as having been anything from a day to a week.
A detective said that every inquiry had been made by circulating the death of the child to all other police stations and that inquiries had been made in the borough, but that no trace of the mother had been found.
The Coroner noted that one difficulty in the case was the length of the river, noting that the child might have floated down.
An open verdict was returned.
