Henrietta Tweedie

Age: 80

Sex: female

Date: 13 Jan 1906

Place: Aberdour

Henrietta Tweedie was thought to have been killed whilst walking home.

She had been to see her daughter at Cowdenbeath on the Saturday about five miles from where she lived in Aberdour and when found was thought to have been done to death in a brutal manner.

Her body was not found until the following day in a narrow ditch in a lonely part of the road.

Her clothing was said to have been disarranged and her dress pocket was turned inside out. There was also a deep gash in her forehead.

However, a few days later following a post-mortem the police came to the decision that her death was due to natural causes and that she had died from exhaustion. It was said that the wounds on her face were caused by rats, of which large numbers abounded in the district.
