The body of a newly-born female child was found in a boot box hidden in the girders of the Hunslet Suspension Bridge.
It was found at 11.45am by two men hidden on a girder under the bridge. The body was wrapped up in white calico and placed in a cardboard boot box which had had all its labels removed and then wrapped up in brown paper.
A doctor stated that death was due to asphyxiation.
