Harry Leslie Stanton was found dead on the Great Western Railway line near the entrance to the Netherton Tunnel in Dudley near Dudley Station.
He was a constable and had his staff out at the time. It was found across his chest and it was thought that he might have been engaged in a scuffle at the time.
