Two bodies were found in the River Medway a week apart. The first body was identified as that of Ernest Albert Hodge but when the second body was found a week later that one was determined to have been the real Albert Hodge.

The bodies had been identified by Ernest Hodge's son who said that he had looked at certain scar's on the face.

The first body was not identified but was buried under the name of Hodge but in the records the Coroner altered his name to 'Man Unknown'.
