The body of a newly-born child was found on the roof of a building in a stone mason's yard next to Nineveh Bridge.
A man who lived on Nineveh Terrace said that he saw the parcel on the roof and found that it contained as body wrapped in a newspaper, brown paper and a piece of bedding.
A police surgeon said that death was due to suffocation.
A clue was found in the label on the paper which had been traced to its place of delivery.
