The body of a newly-born child was found on the roof of a building in a stone mason's yard next to Nineveh Bridge.

A man who lived on Nineveh Terrace said that he saw the parcel on the roof and found that it contained as body wrapped in a newspaper, brown paper and a piece of bedding.

A police surgeon said that death was due to suffocation.
