Ernest Howard Regnart was found dead in the sea.
He was an insurance clerk and had lived on Hogarth Road in Hove.
The inquest heard that Ernest Regnart had recently taken up dancing and had become friends with a woman many years older than him, whose company he was said to have sought because she was a good dancer. However, the inquest heard that he had been disappointed when she had failed to turn up on the Saturday for an appointment with him on account of the illness of a relative.
His father said that he had told Ernest Regnart that if he wanted to dance that he should find a girl his own age.
The Coroner said that there was no evidence of suicide and noted that he might have fallen into the sea.
An open verdict was returned.
