Mary Ann Crabtree died from septicaemia.

Her husband said that he did not know that she was in a certain condition. He said that she had been in good health up until about 18 months earlier when she had had to go into Hartley Hospital for an operation after which he said she did not enjoy good health.

He said that the Sunday before she complained of shivering and pains in her stomach. He said that she didn’t like to call in a doctor and that on the Monday when he got home from work he found her in bed. He said that she became worse during the night and he called a doctor but by the time he arrived she was dead.

An open verdict was returned.
