A newly-born female child was found dead in a lavatory.

The body was found early on the Wednesday morning by a dustman employed by the Urban District Council in a private lavatory on Adelphi Street. the dustman said that the child was not wrapped up.

A doctor said that the body was that of a newly-born female child and that it had been dead for less than three days. He said that he could not state how long it had lived but did say that it had had a separate existence.

The doctor also stated that there was evidence that the mother had been tended to by a skilled person.

He said that there was not any food in the child's stomach and concluded that death was due to suffocation and strangulation.

A policeman that examined the scene said that it was a place that was accessible by the public.

The Coroner said that it was obvious that the poor child had been murdered.
