Mabel Davies was thought to have died following an illegal operation.
A woman was held for having caused her death but the post-mortem found no sign of injury or that an instrument had been used upon her.
She was said to have undergone the operation at a house in Derby Street, Rusholme on Saturday 6 October 1917.
However, after no evidence of interference was found an open verdict was returned.
After hearing the result of the inquest the police said that after careful consideration that they had decided to offer no further evidence against the woman and she was discharged.
