The body of an unknown man was found in a canal near Chelburn Bridge in Summit.
The post-mortem found that his head was fractured, his left eye badly injured, his right arm broken and his left forearm also broken. There were also cuts and marks on both arms and behind the left knee.
There was nothing on him to identify him and it was thought that he had been in the water for about fourteen days.
A verdict of found drowned was returned.
