Francis Ram

Age: 81

Sex: male

Date: 16 Jan 1917

Place: Turle Mansions, Turle Road, Holloway

Francis Ram was found dead at his home with a stomach wound on 16 January 1917.

He had been a pensioned War Office clerk and had lived in Turle Mansions, Turle Road, Holloway.

He had lived alone but had a charwoman in daily to do the cleaning.

His post-mortem stated that he had died from a haemorrhage from a wound in his abdomen.

He was found sitting in his chair in front of a gas fire. When his body was moved, a little penknife was found lying on the floor.

When a woman was later raking out the fires in his office on the Monday night she said that a pocket knife and two bones fell out.

A doctor said that his injury could have been caused by either of the knives.

The inquest heard that he had ulcers on his legs and that he was in the habit of pricking them with a penknife.

An open verdict was returned.
