Christopher Walker

Age: 26

Sex: male

Date: 27 May 1914

Place: Beauchief

Christopher Walker was found lying between the metals under the Midland Railway bridge at Beauchief.

He was suffering from concussion of the brain, a fracture of the right thigh bone and a fracture of the right collar bone and death was due to concussion and laceration of the brain.

It was not thought that he had been hit by a train although it was thought possible that he had fallen from the bridge.

Whilst in hospital he had been mostly unconscious, but the day before he died he muttered 'Why do you worry with me. Let me alone. I don't want to get better'.

An open verdict was returned.

He was a goods porter.
