John Turner

Age: 48

Sex: male

Date: 11 Jun 1914

Place: Barrow

John Turner was shot in the head while watching lovers.

He was found by two men that had taken him back but they had said that he had tripped on a stone.

Another man said that he had seen the couple that John Turner had been peeping on and said that he had seen the man take out a pistol and hand it to the girl.

An open verdict was returned because the couple who had had the pistol could not be traced.

The Coroner noted that 'Spotting', which was the local term for watching lovers was a deplorable thing for a married man to be doing.
