John Henry Rundle was found in a cupboard with his throat cut at Feeder Road, St. Philips, Bristol.
A man who had lived with his mother at the house on Feeder Road said that he came home and heard a fearful groan coming from the coal cupboard. He said that he called a neighbour and they pulled John Rundle out who was partly clothed and found that he had a deep wound to his throat and that there was a razor by his side.
The man said that he didn't realise who it was at first but then found out that it was John Rundle who was a regular visitor to his house. He said that John Rundle's hat, coat and collar were lying in an armchair.
John Rundle died before the ambulance could get him to the hospital.
The doctor said that his death was due to haemorrhage following severe wounds in the neck.
The jury returned a verdict that his death was probably self-inflicted but that they were unable to say what state his mind was in.
John Rundle had lived in Wellington Street in Redcliff. John Rundle's housekeeper said that John Rundle had been very worried on account of losing his job.
