Reginald Beavers was found in Tinsley Locks on the Tuesday morning.
The cause of death was given as drowning but he also had extensive injuries including a fractured collar bone and several broken and fractured ribs.
His body was found by a lock-keeper at the Tinsley Locks when he found that he could not close the lock gates. He had put a hook down and then dragged up the body.
He had lived on Brinsworth Lane in Brinsworth.
