Sandy Ingram

Age: 80

Sex: male

Date: 2 Jun 2011

Place: Elrick House, Newmachar, Aberdeenshire

Sandy Ingram was found with head injuries at his farm in Newmachar on 19 June 2010. He later died on 2 June 2011.

He had gone out at his farm to investigate two prowlers.

He was later found lying unconscious in the garden by his wife.

He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he spent some time in the high-dependency unit and underwent brain surgery, however, he never recovered.

The prowlers were described as:

  1. Wearing a light-coloured baseball cap, possibly green, with a darker peak.
  2. Wearing dark clothing and had dark, almost shoulder-length, hair.

Sandy Ingram had lived at Elrick House, near Newmachar and had been a member of the Aberdeenshire farming community.

The police said they were treating his death as unexplained, stating that they were trying to determine whether his head injuries were the result of an assault or a fall. However, his family said that they were 99.5% sure that he had been the victim of a violent assault.

Whilst he was in hospital he had been unable to speak, however, his family said that they were sure that he had been trying to tell them something.

Elrick House was near the B979 Kinmundy-Blackburn road near Newmachar.

His estate was later put up for sale in October 2011 and included:

  1. Home Farm Steading, a coachman’s cottage, along with 2.13 acres of land for £150,000.
  2. Brownhills Farmhouse, a four-bedroom pink granite farmhouse in one acre of land for £230,000.
  3. A steading with a stone bothy, barn and former cottage for £150,000.
  4. Three other cottages for prices ranging from £65,000 to £120,000.
  5. Three lots of woodland and pasture.

Sandy Ingram's funeral was held at Newmachar Parish Church on 14 July 2011.
