Alec Christopher

Age: 62

Sex: male

Date: 20 Jun 2001

Place: Avenue Road, Southall, Middlesex

Alec Christopher was stabbed as he walked along Avenue Road in Southall at 6.50am on 20 June 2001.

He was found in the road near the junction of Avenue Road and Cambridge Road with a single stab wound and taken to hospital where he died later that day.

The police said that there was a connection between his murder and an attack on another man some time earlier when a man had been stabbed in the head. They said that they had also interviewed several Somalian men that had been seen in Southall Park about 25 minutes earlier. There was said to have been a common link between Alec Christopher and the other man, that being the occupier of the house where the Somalian men had been drinking all night and where they regularly drank.

The police said that they had interviewed four of the five Somalian men but were still trying to find the fifth Somalian man who they described as aged between 30 and 40 years old, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall and with black balding hair, a black moustache, a goatee and with a slim build.

A CCTV camera recorded Alec Christopher around the time he was stabbed. It was thought that the footage caught him shortly after he had been stabbed and showed him rubbing and dabbing his hands.

He was later found to have had defensive injuries on his hands.

A CCTV camera had also recorded a woman walking along the street in the same direction as Alec Christopher and it was thought that she might be able to provide some fresh intelligence or have even talked to Alec Christopher. She was said to have been aged about 40 to 50 years old.

Alec Christopher had lived in a nearby bedsit and was said to have been out for an early morning walk at the time.

He was a retired crane driver and had lived in Southall since 1961.
